Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for hiring personal trainers and the evaluation of whether this is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is limited. The reasons provided (time-saving and better training) are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The conclusion is underdeveloped and fails to clearly state a final position on whether the trend is positive or negative, which is a requirement of the task. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-supported arguments and ensure your position is clearly maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak transitions. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'), they are often used mechanically. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the trainer and the user's 'problem' is vague. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is very brief and lacks a concluding summary of the main arguments, which affects the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'better', and 'nice' (implied). There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'more time consuming' when you actually mean 'time-saving', and 'traning from personal trainer is much convenient'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to health and fitness, such as 'tailored fitness programmes' or 'professional guidance'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('a enough time'), incorrect verb forms ('they cannot got outside'), and punctuation issues (e.g., 'sports.it', 'trainer . they'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your sentences are punctuated correctly to enhance readability.
