Student answer (Band 6.5)

There are several people recruiting a personal instructor for fitness instead of hitting the gym or playing games. This essay has positive development because of some reasons that I will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.

The first and foremost reason is personalised workout plans. To explicate it, when a person has personal coach, they can do exercise more efficiently and coach teach them according to their body level and goals. Moreover, if individuals follow the instructions of trainer they can get healthy and fit body. Also, trainer is not only give them exercises to do ,but also give them a healthy diet that can improve their overall health and they can achieve better results. Furthermore, they can get benefits because it improves their cardio muscles, relieve from pain, tiredness and their body become flexible because of their strict routine of workout. As a result, it enhance the overall personality of a person.

Another valuable reason is injury prevention and correct posture. To explain it, some individuals want to correct their posture that cause by accident and injury. In this case, trainer can help them and give the yoga poses or exercises that can improve their posture. If they do it by themselves at home without any guidance, it can cause more problems or injuries. Consequently, it can help someone to get their right posture back and they feel confident and relax after taking guidance from their neighbours had backbone injury and he started to with a bent posture, but with personal trainer he got his posture back.

To conclude, having a personal trainer is good as it can help stay consistent towards their body goals and maintaining good body alignment or posture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for hiring personal trainers and an evaluation of whether this is a positive or negative development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on personalized plans and injury prevention. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation of the 'positive' aspect is implied rather than explicitly argued, and the conclusion is brief. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The example provided about the neighbor is a bit disjointed and lacks clarity in its connection to the main argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as the sudden shift to the personal anecdote about the neighbor. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second body paragraph where the sentence structure becomes fragmented, making it difficult to follow the logical progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'personalized workout plans', 'injury prevention', and 'cardio muscles'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'recruiting a personal instructor' (hiring/engaging) and 'relieve from pain' (relief from pain). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('trainer is not only give them'), article usage, and sentence fragments ('...and he started to with a bent posture'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the flow of reading, though they do not completely obscure the intended message. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the score.
