Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and providing a clear stance that it is a negative development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons for hiring trainers are mentioned, the explanation regarding supplements is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong logical link to why people choose trainers in the first place. The example of the cricketer is slightly underdeveloped and lacks specific context. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly answers the 'why' and 'positive/negative' aspects of the prompt with more depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'In this competitive world', 'The main drawback', 'Secondly'). There are instances where the progression between sentences feels disjointed, particularly in the transition between the discussion of busy schedules and the introduction of supplements. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'one of the famous cricketer who was taking steroid', where the connection to the previous point about trainers is not explicitly stated. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'supplements', 'diet plan', and 'competitive world'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'it has witnessed a significant change' (which is grammatically incorrect as a subject) and 'mental disease' (which is imprecise). The range is somewhat limited, and the student relies on basic descriptors. To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('one of the famous cricketer', 'trainer recommend us'), article usage ('the food of their own choice'), and tense consistency. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb forms, to ensure that complex sentences are constructed correctly.
