Student answer (Band 7.0)

Nowadays, In many countries many people are prefer to hire a personal fitness trainer, rather than involve in sports activity or doing exercise classes. There are various reasons for this trend, and I believe this is a positive trend. Both the reasons and my opinion will be discussed in the ensuring paragraphs.

There are mainly two reasons for this development. Firstly, a personalised fitness training emphasizes more personally and give better health result than general or group exercise classes. Personal training exercise protocol is tailor made and as per individuals needs and goals. As a result, client can get faster and better result compared to sports activity and a general fitness class. For example, Obese person doing personal fitness training would get faster result and chances of injury would be less for the client due to personal attention and exercise plan. Additionally, people prefer more privacy and don't like to do fitness activities in general, thus rather than playing sports, they choose personal fitness trainer to be healthy and fit.

I believe, this is a positive development due to some reasons. It can create more jobs in a health care sector. If, more and more people are hiring a personal trainer then a demand of a exercise instructor would be increased. Moreover, more tailor made and personalised training means less chances of injury and also saves time. Therefore, people can get their level of fitness with exercise as per their choices. Furthermore, it is more flexible and convenient for the client and increase life-expectancy.

However, some people believe it is a negative development because personal training is more costly than general class. Another reason is that, people feel more isolated and alone with personalised training.

To conclude, although personal training is costly, I believe it is a positive development which provides a faster and better health result with less chances of injury.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and clearly stating a position on whether it is a positive or negative development. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of personalized attention and the economic impact of job creation. However, some points are slightly repetitive, and the development could be more nuanced. For instance, the argument regarding 'life-expectancy' is mentioned but not fully explained. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the task requirements are met with sufficient supporting ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as the phrase 'in the ensuring paragraphs'. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'exercise protocol', 'tailor made', and 'life-expectancy'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'give better health result' (should be 'yield better health results') and 'demand of a exercise instructor' (should be 'demand for'). While the range is sufficient, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a exercise instructor', 'an obese person'), subject-verb agreement ('people is prefer'), and pluralization ('get faster result'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some unnecessary commas, such as in the opening sentence. These errors do not impede communication, but they are persistent enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
