Student answer (Band 6.0)

Hiring a personal trainer has become a trend nowadays. people are hiring personal trainers for their training. This is because they believe that a personal trainer trains an individual in a better way. Therefore he spends more time on an individual and brings a better result. I believe this is a positive development because people due to their busy working life are not paying attention to the gym.

To begin with, people nowadays are hiring their personal trainers, who can help them being fit. They spend more time on customers. Which eventually results in a better physique. Moreover, the individuals are so busy in their professional lives which does not let them to play sports or to go gym. As a result, a personal trainer overcomes this issue. He approaches his client on daily basis and get them do exercises. Additionally, he writes a diet chart which is to be followed by a customer. It includes meals for the breakfast, lunch and for the dinner.

On the other hand, others claim that people should not hire their personal trainers, instead they should play sports and join exercise classes. As per community, it might results in more expenditure, as hiring a personal trainer charges a lot. Therefore, if a person manages to do exercises on his own, he can be more dedicated. Furthermore, an individual can fix his own schedule for playing sports. Also, it helps a person to meet new friends in the park or in the classes.

In conclusion, despite that fact that working on their own saves a huge amount of money, a personal trainer can focus more on an individual. Therefore, a person cannot make any excuses if he has paid money to a trainer, instead he will follow the training and will have a better and a healthy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for hiring personal trainers and the evaluation of whether this is a positive or negative development. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that trainers provide better results and help busy people, the explanation remains quite superficial. For instance, the point about 'diet charts' is a good start but could be expanded to explain how this addresses modern health challenges. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason is fully extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis rather than just stating the benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., the frequent use of 'a personal trainer' and 'an individual'). The conclusion summarizes the main points effectively, though it could be more sophisticated in its synthesis of the arguments. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'physique', 'expenditure', and 'diet chart'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic words like 'hiring', 'personal trainer', and 'people'. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'get them do exercises' (should be 'get them to do exercises') and 'as per community' (which is not a standard way to introduce an opposing view). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise synonyms and collocations would improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include 'does not let them to play' (should be 'does not let them play'), 'on daily basis' (should be 'on a daily basis'), and 'despite that fact that' (should be 'despite the fact that'). Additionally, there are some issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb patterns after causative verbs would be beneficial.
