Student answer (Band 6.5)
In some nations is has been observed, a large number of individuals are opting for private fitness trainers instead of involving themselves into sports or joining workout classes. There are several reasons for this shift which will be discussed further. In my opinion, this change has adverse impact on pockets of people and make them less sociable.
To begin with, having a personal trainer leads to higher level of motivation while working out at gyms. This means someone is available all the time to guide on what exercises are to be done and how. Moreover, they provide customised training plans to cater the specific needs of individuals. For example, a person who wants to lose weight will have different workout routine as compared to someone who wants to build muscles. Therefore, having a trainer in whose guidance exercises are done is seen beneficial.
On the contrary, this brings increased financial burden for people. Whereas, one can easily enroll in any sport or join workout classes such as yoga, Zumba, Pilates and live active and healthy life. If cost of these activities is compared to having a private trainer, it is significantly very low. For instance, cost of joining a sports club is between 50 to 100 dollars, however, hiring a trainer is somewhere 400 to 500 dollars per month. Along with this, people get more chances of engaging socially when the participate in group activities.
To conclude, a lot of people hire private trainers as they feel it is highly motivating and they also provide customised workout plans. However, this can make them isolated while working out and can be costly too.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and providing a clear opinion on whether it is a positive or negative development. The ideas are relevant, such as the motivation provided by trainers versus the financial burden and lack of social interaction. However, the development of these points is somewhat brief. While the reasons are clear, they could be expanded with more depth or nuanced analysis to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarises the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits from the drawbacks. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'On the contrary', and 'To conclude' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother in places. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the referencing is generally accurate, meeting the requirements for a solid band 7.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'customised training plans', 'financial burden', and 'isolated'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as 'involving themselves into sports' (should be 'involving themselves in') and 'cater the specific needs' (should be 'cater to'). To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to demonstrate greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'In some nations is has been observed' (should be 'it has been observed'), 'make them less sociable' (should be 'makes them'), and 'in whose guidance exercises are done' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor slips that occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The student demonstrates a reasonable command of grammar, but more attention to subject-verb agreement and preposition usage is needed.
