Student answer (Band 7.5)
A large number of people in some nations are hiring one-on-one fitness instructors instead of joining group sessions or playing sports. The driving factors behind this paradigm are busy schedules and demand for a customized approach. In my opinion, it is a positive development as it assists people to prevent a sedentary lifestyle.
The primary catalyst is that people are busier than before. This is because many individuals are managing work-life balance and have little time left in their schedule to make it to organized events such as sports or fixed work-out classes in local gyms. As a result, they find hiring a personal trainer the best possible way to incorporate exercise into their life. To exemplify, as published in a recent edition of Stars sports magazine, more than half of top level executives recruit a personal trainer to accommodate workouts in their packed schedules.
Another contributing factor is that people nowadays are accustomed to a customized approach in almost every aspect of life. This means that they want everything tailored to their needs and do not believe in a one-size-fits-all convention. Therefore, they wish to get their exercise regime designed to suit their individual needs and seeking professional guidance from a personal coach is the best way for them to seek customized guidance.
In conclusion, although it is undeniable that personal trainers are expensive when compared to sports and group classes, the time flexibility and tailored guidance they offer are far more valuable in present times, therefore, it is a constructive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, providing clear reasons for the trend and a distinct opinion on whether it is a positive development. Your ideas are relevant and logically extended. For example, you explain the 'busy schedule' factor and the 'customized approach' factor clearly. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more universally applicable or detailed; while the reference to 'Stars sports magazine' is a good attempt at providing evidence, it feels slightly generic. Overall, your position is consistent and well-supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'The primary catalyst', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion' effectively to guide the reader through your argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the relationship between the reasons provided and your overall stance is clear. To improve, ensure that you vary your linking words slightly more to avoid a mechanical feel in some transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'paradigm', 'sedentary lifestyle', 'catalyst', and 'regime' appropriately. Your word choice is generally precise and contributes to a professional tone. There are no significant errors in collocation or spelling that impede communication. To move into the higher bands, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or idiomatic expressions that sound natural in an academic or formal context, rather than relying on standard academic phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is solid. For instance, the use of conditional-like structures and complex noun phrases shows good grammatical awareness. There are no major errors that cause confusion. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as inversion or more advanced passive constructions, while maintaining the high level of accuracy you have already demonstrated.
