Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 199 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. While the prompt asks for reasons and an opinion on whether the development is positive or negative, the essay only touches upon the reasons and fails to provide a clear, developed argument regarding the nature of the trend. The lack of a conclusion and the under-developed body paragraphs mean the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'first one is that' and 'another point is that', but they are somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a concluding paragraph means there is no overall sense of closure or logical summary of the arguments presented. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the flow of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'healthy lifestyle', 'personal fitness trainer', and 'busy lifestyle' are used frequently. There are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'fitness growth' instead of 'fitness goals' and 'weight low' instead of 'weight loss'. The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. The student struggles to use less common lexical items accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'everyone like the healthy lifestyle' (subject-verb agreement), 'more and more individual are prefer' (incorrect verb form), and 'whose help them' (incorrect relative pronoun). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic errors in grammar and syntax prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
