Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, it has been discovered that in few countries, there are growing number of people who prefer to employ a trainer personally for their fitness rather than attending fitness classes. The reason for this view is because it can be affordable and to avoid distractions. And I believe this is a positive practice because it enhances effective communication and adequate focus.

I firmly believe one of the major reasons to hire a trainer is because it is affordable. Most people enjoy being trained by personal educator but because they cannot afford it they decide to participate in sport or to attend a fitness class. But those who have the ability to pay an instructor would engage in an interrupted and private class. In addition, some individuals do not want to be distracted by other trainees because they do not want to exceed the stipulated time due to their buy schedule.

Moreover, recruiting someone to guide them during workout is very important to some people because it provides an efficient and effective communication. As a result, one-on-one communication enables total reliance and self-education. It allows the trainers to be focus and concentrate to impact the adequate knowledge needed.

In conclusion. I believe persona fitness should be encourage and plan towards for effective communication in order to achieve the expected knowledge and also to avoid distractions by other trainees.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons for hiring a trainer and the evaluation of this trend—but the development is limited. The essay is under the 250-word minimum, which restricts the depth of the arguments. While the reasons (affordability and avoiding distractions) are relevant, the explanation is somewhat repetitive and lacks specific examples or nuanced analysis. The position is clear, but the under-length nature of the response prevents a more thorough exploration of the topic, leading to a score that reflects the lack of sufficient development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In addition', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'). While the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. Paragraphing is present, but the concluding paragraph is very brief and lacks a strong summary of the main points. Overall, the structure is functional but lacks the flexibility required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'personal educator' instead of 'personal trainer' and 'buy schedule' (likely a typo for 'busy schedule'). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms like 'good' or 'important' rather than more sophisticated alternatives. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to fitness and professional services and ensure correct word forms are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there are growing number of people' (missing article), 'trainers to be focus' (incorrect verb form), and 'persona fitness should be encourage' (incorrect word form and passive voice error). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. More attention to subject-verb agreement and word forms is necessary to reach a higher band.
