Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's world, some people are hiring personal fitness trainers for guidance and help during workouts. As a result, many people are avoiding sports, exercise, and classes. In my opinion, this is a positive development, and this essay will discuss the reasons behind it with relevant examples.
To begin with, hiring a personal trainer gives a person privacy and accountability. Many people nowadays feel shy working out with big groups; therefore, these kinds of people prefer personal trainers so that they can get full attention and time for the entire session. Moreover, personal trainers can help people based on their physical needs and requirements by providing personal diet plans and exercise sessions. For example, I used to take a group yoga class, but it did not help me to reduce weight. But now, when I am taking sessions from a personal trainer, it is helping me to achieve better results as I am getting his full focus.
On the other hand, sports and exercise help people a lot to stay fit and healthy. However, lack of guidance during activities could result in physical injuries. For example, one of my friends used to do workout everyday, but he was not getting help from a professional. Due to this, he injured his shoulder because he forced his body to do some exercise. Furthermore, when a person is working out alone, they need motivation and self-encouragement. Sometimes people get lazy when they do not have someone to motivate them. Therefore, I believe a personal trainer plays a vital role in doing this.
To sum up, personal fitness trainers help people to achieve better results in a short period of time. Hence, I feel it is better than playing sports or doing exercise without any guidance or support.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend (privacy, accountability, tailored plans) and clearly stating a position that it is a positive development. The ideas are relevant and supported by personal examples, such as the yoga class experience and the friend's injury. However, the development of the 'positive' aspect could be more nuanced; while you mention the benefits of guidance, you could further explore the broader societal implications or the potential downsides of this shift to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused and maintains a consistent position throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up' are used effectively to guide the reader. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the paragraphing is appropriate. While the use of cohesive devices is generally effective, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Nevertheless, the logical flow is maintained throughout the text, making it easy to follow the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accountability', 'physical needs', and 'vital role' appropriately. There are some instances where word choice could be more precise, such as 'these kinds of people' or 'doing exercise', which are slightly informal or repetitive. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to fitness and health. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the variety and precision required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is generally good control over grammar, and errors are infrequent and do not impede communication. For example, 'I used to take a group yoga class' and 'when a person is working out alone' are grammatically sound. However, there are minor slips, such as 'do workout everyday' (should be 'do workouts every day') and 'the entire session' (which could be phrased more naturally). The range of structures is sufficient, but incorporating more varied complex sentences would enhance the overall quality.
