Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and discussing both positive and negative aspects. The ideas are relevant, such as 'hectic schedules' and 'physical restrictions' for the reasons, and 'team work' and 'social interaction' for the drawbacks. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat brief. While the position is clear, the analysis could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on the positive impacts is quite limited compared to the negative ones. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed explanation or specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moving further', and 'To recapitulate', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the transition between the reasons and the evaluation of the trend could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, but the punctuation around some cohesive devices (e.g., 'Another point is ,') is inconsistent, which slightly affects the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. There are some attempts at less common items like 'myriad of multitudes' and 'recapitulate', though 'myriad of multitudes' is slightly redundant and unnatural. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'appointing a personal fitness coach' (hiring is more natural) and 'difference in physical strength' (which does not fully capture the concept of personalized training). There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'despite of having'. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on natural collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'every individual is not getting enough of the time', 'which help them' (should be 'helps'), and 'involvement in exercise classes help' (should be 'helps'). There are also issues with unnecessary commas, such as 'Therefore, In a few nations' and 'Another point is ,'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and punctuation rules is needed.
