Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, most of people are hiring professional personal trainers who are expensive and not joining any sports or physical activity classes. There are several reasons for this trend and I think this is a negative development.

To begin with, many people nowadays think that hiring professional trainers or pediatricians will help them loosing weight quickly and will maintain their daily diet, But this does not give true results for every person. All individuals are different and they need to make good efforts as well as work hard in order to maintain good body structure and healthy lifestyle rather than depending on their trainers. Secondly, many celebrities and renowned people nowadays hire professional trainers to maintain their physics which influence folks to do the same, thinking they will get the same results. For instance, Anant Ambani, famous business tycoon lost 50 pounds recently and he mentioned in the recent interview that he could do this only because of his trainers help, which attracts people to do the same and end up spending more money.

In my opinion, this is a negative trend. Firstly, people are tend to spend more money on Professional trainers and Pediatricians as they do cost more while not getting true results. Secondly, many individuals are forgetting that playing different kind of sports or joining any physical activity classes can give them better results if they stay consistent with that and if follow healthy diet, since nowadays there are lot of options available. For instance, If a person is playing a particular sport everyday or joining any local gym or exercise classes he can get better result. Moreover, Nowadays there are lot of resources available such as online platforms, website or apps, which can help him building personalised exercises and diet plans.

To conclude, people should explore other resources for exercise and choosing diet plans rather than only depending on personal trainers and spending bunch of money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for hiring personal trainers and providing an opinion on whether this trend is positive or negative. However, there are some logical lapses and slight misunderstandings, such as mentioning pediatricians instead of physical trainers/dietitians, which slightly detracts from the clarity of ideas. The position is clear throughout, and examples such as the reference to Anant Ambani are provided to support the arguments. Ideas are generally relevant, but some points, particularly regarding why people choose trainers over other activities, are repetitive. The task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly in the mid-band range for task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the reasons from the evaluation of the trend. However, cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes faulty or mechanical, relying on repetitive transitional markers like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun use ('if follow healthy diet, since nowadays there are lot of options available'). Progression is sometimes hindered by circular reasoning, but the overall logical flow is sufficient to follow the writer's arguments without significant difficulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations and phrases such as 'business tycoon' and 'personalised exercises'. However, there are notable lexical inaccuracies and inappropriate word choices, most prominently the misuse of 'pediatricians' instead of 'dietitians' or 'fitness experts', as well as 'maintaining their physics' instead of 'physique'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but word choice errors and slips do occasionally occur ('loosing weight' instead of 'losing', 'bunch of money'). The lexical range allows the message to be communicated despite these shortcomings.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over clause structures with conditional sentences ('If a person is playing...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people are tend to spend'), missing articles ('with his trainers help'), and awkward phrasing ('can help him building'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with incorrect capitalization after commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur regularly enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
