Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address both parts of the prompt by discussing reasons for hiring a personal trainer and considering whether this is positive or negative. However, the response is incomplete, stopping abruptly with 'To conclude' and failing to finish the essay or provide a proper conclusion. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 190 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas, leaving the second part of the task (positive/negative development) underdeveloped and rushed. Therefore, the task is only partially addressed, which aligns with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a basic organizational structure with clear transitional markers like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Paragraphing is attempted, though the final paragraph is incomplete. Cohesive devices are sometimes repetitive or mechanical (e.g., repeating 'personal fitness trainer' frequently). Progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly in the second body paragraph where the arguments regarding older people and children lack clear connection to the main topic. Overall, the arrangement shows some logical progression but suffers from inadequate development and an unfinished ending, placing it firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about fitness and lifestyle choices. However, there are noticeable spelling errors (such as 'excercise', 'eleborated', 'presentely', 'convient', 'workoput', 'regualar', 'youngs') and awkward word choices like 'follow personal gym trainer'. While the student attempts some topic-specific vocabulary ('fitness level', 'risk of injury'), the limited range and frequent lexical inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and reason clauses ('because personal trainer can create...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('In these days people are like to follow personal gym trainer'), incorrect verb forms ('people are like to follow'), and punctuation issues. While meaning is usually retrievable despite these errors, the high frequency of basic grammatical inaccuracies prevents the text from reaching a higher band, making Band 5 an appropriate evaluation.
