Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the reasons for hiring a personal fitness trainer and giving a clear opinion that this is a positive development. The ideas are relevant, with the first body paragraph explaining the influence of digital media content creators and the second body paragraph exploring the physical and mental health benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and relies on general statements rather than deep elaboration. For instance, the example about the UK and Instagram is brief and lacks specific detail. The writer maintains a clear position throughout the essay, which satisfies the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into four distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which provides an overall coherent arrangement. Information and ideas are generally presented in a logical sequence. However, cohesion at the sentence level is sometimes mechanical or faulty. The writer uses standard cohesive devices such as 'To explain it', 'To elaborate on it', and 'In conclusion', but referencing and linking can be awkward, as seen in phrases like 'This is because social media fitness influencers awareness videos that motivations people.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the response, but paragraph internal transitions could be smoother, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'certified fitness professional' and 'optimistic development' (though the latter is slightly unnatural in collocation). There are several noticeable word choice and morphological errors throughout the text, such as 'health consious' instead of 'health-conscious', 'motivations people' instead of 'motivate people', and 'million of people' instead of 'millions of people'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is rarely impeded because the intended meaning remains clear to the reader, which places the vocabulary performance squarely in the Band 6 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and word classes, such as 'it assist them' instead of 'it assists them', 'it keep a person' instead of 'it keeps a person', and 'a fitness guide pushes person' instead of 'a fitness guide pushes a person'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical slips occur in almost every sentence. Because these errors do not severely impede overall comprehension, the performance fits the criteria for a Band 5.5.
