Student answer (Band 6.5)
Hiring a personal coach rather than participating in games or exercising has become a trend among individuals in some nations. Although trainers can suggest personal plans related to health and motivate an individual, this approach is largely negative due to cost related to it and loss of self-motivation.
On the one hand, a personal trainer can create specific health plan according to an individual's need. Since people are often not aware about meals they should eat to stay healthy or exercises they should do according to their body type, coach helps to make most suitable diet and exercise chart. consequently, individuals achieve fast results. Moreover, if an individual lack motivation of doing exercise or following a healthy routine, a trainer can help to push that person with continuous feedbacks.
On the other hand, hiring a trainer is significantly expensive. As trainers are required to provide one on one session to their clients, they often charge huge amount of money. Furthermore, an individual who depends upon someone else to stay healthy could loss self-motivation. Such people start relying on others for most of their individual decisions and blame others for not getting results. For instance, if a person going to gym under the supervision of a trainer, did not achieve desired results, could blame that trainer rather than finding out lack in his own efforts.
To conclude, while a trainer is a professional who can provide motivation and significant advice for overall well-being, complete rely on others diminish an individual's personal motivation and put financial burden as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the reasons for hiring a personal fitness trainer and whether this trend is a positive or negative development. The writer takes a clear position in the introduction, stating that this approach is largely negative due to financial costs and a decline in self-motivation. Main body paragraphs are dedicated to these points, supported by relevant explanations and examples. For instance, the discussion on how individuals might blame trainers instead of themselves provides a relatable and logical argument. However, some ideas could be extended further with more specific real-world examples to achieve a higher band. Overall, the task is well-handled and meets the criteria for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, two main body paragraphs exploring contrasting sides, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, referencing and cohesive links are occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'complete rely on others diminish' in the conclusion. Furthermore, pronoun referencing can be vague in places. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is clear throughout, earning a solid Band 6.5 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully using terms such as 'professional', 'well-being', 'financial burden', and 'motivation'. There are, however, noticeable word choice and morphological errors throughout the text, such as 'cost related to it' instead of 'costs associated with it', 'an individual lack' instead of 'lacks', and 'complete rely' instead of 'complete reliance'. Less common lexical items are attempted but occasionally misused or unidiomatic. Nevertheless, vocabulary errors do not impede communication, placing the response comfortably within the Band 6 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and subordinate clauses like 'Since people are often not aware...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several recurring errors with articles, subject-verb agreement, and word forms, such as 'coach helps to make' instead of 'a coach helps', 'an individual lack motivation', and 'loss self-motivation' instead of 'lose self-motivation'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but preposition usage needs refinement. Because errors occur frequently but rarely impede overall understanding, this performance corresponds to a Band 6.0.
