Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is widely observed that citizens in many nations employ a personal fitness trainer but do not want to participate in sports or attend exercise sessions. Admittedly, individuals have certain reasons for following this trend. However, I believe that this is certainly a positive development because it may encourage them to follow a healthy lifestyle.
One main reason is that extended working hours have limited opportunities for playing sports or for exercising regularly. People do not feel motivated to do physical activity, especially after a demanding schedule, which may make them more prone to chronic diseases, such as obesity, so they hire a personal trainer. For instance, most professionals feel more engaged in exercise sessions when a fitness trainer monitors their improvements as well as suggests various exercises on a daily basis. That is why residents are more likely to hire a personal trainer for themselves, since this approach motivates them.
The main advantage of having a personal fitness trainer is that people do not feel isolated. This is largely because they can communicate with him/her during their sessions and can share thoughts. For example, a corporate worker can talk to his fitness coach about the most hilarious or saddest moment they experienced in their office, which may act as a catalyst to improve the friendship bond between them. This may also help people reduce their stress levels and may also be helpful in reducing obesity.
In conclusion, to increase motivation to improve health conditions while managing workloads, individuals hire a personal fitness trainer. I believe this is surely a positive development because it may reduce the risk of obesity and may also decrease daily stress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying reasons for hiring a personal fitness trainer and providing a clear position that this is a positive development. Ideas are well-supported, particularly in explaining how extended working hours and professional guidance motivate individuals. For instance, the mention of fitness trainers monitoring improvements illustrates why people turn to personal coaching over group sessions. While some ideas, such as the social aspect of talking about office moments, are slightly unconventional, the response maintains a clear overarching argument throughout. The response fully satisfies the task requirements with relevant and extended supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: introduction, reasons for the trend, advantages of trainers, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used effectively, such as 'One main reason is that', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', guiding the reader smoothly from one point to the next. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, and referencing throughout the text remains clear and manageable. Minor mechanical cohesion is present, but overall the structure facilitates easy reading and logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary appropriate for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'chronic diseases', 'demanding schedule', 'catalyst', and 'stress levels'. There are attempts to use less common lexical items, although some collocations or word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'friendship bond' instead of 'rapport' or 'friendship'. Nevertheless, spelling and word choice errors are minimal and do not impede communication, showing a good control of lexical resources overall.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The writer uses a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and conditional elements, as seen in 'People do not feel motivated to do physical activity, especially after a demanding schedule, which may make them more prone to chronic diseases'. There are frequent error-free sentences, demonstrating a strong command of grammar and punctuation. While occasional minor slips occur, such as prepositional choices or phrasing subtleties, these do not impede communication, placing the writing comfortably within the Band 7 range for grammatical control.
