Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the contemporary world, an increasing number of people are choosing the personal trainer as compared to take the exercise classes. This essay will discuss the main reasons for this trends and explain why I beleive it is a positive development.

To begin with, there are several reasons why people prefer a personal trainer. First, trainers provide individual attention and create a plan to a person need fitness. This can be useful for the beginers who do not know how to exercise properly. Secondly, personal trainers can help people stay motivated. When somone has a trainer waiting for them, they are more likely to follow a regular exercise routine. In addition, busy people may find personal traning more convinent because they can choose a suitable time and focus on the specific goals such loose a weight or building a strength.

I believe this is generally a positive development. One major benefit is that people can exercise safely because tariner can teach them the corrcet techniques and reduces the risk of injuries. Fruthermore, a personalised fitness plan may help people acheive their goals more effectively than exercising wiithout the guidance. For example, a person who wants to lose weight can receive advice about suitable exercises and develop a consistent routine with the help of a trainer.

In conclusion, people are increasingly hiring personal fitness trainers because they offer personalised guidance, motivation and flexibility. Although playing sports and attending exercise classes also have benefits, I believe the growing use of personal trainers is a positive development because it can encourage people to exercise regularly and safely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for hiring personal trainers and whether it is a positive or negative development. The student presents a clear position throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported, such as explaining how trainers help beginners and improve safety, although there is a slight tendency to overgeneralise in places. The body paragraphs effectively explore individual attention, motivation, convenience, and safety. To reach a higher level, the ideas could be developed with even greater depth and more precise, specific examples rather than relying on somewhat general scenarios.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

There is a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the essay, with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. The writer uses cohesive devices adequately to guide the reader, such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central topic. While the cohesion is generally clear, transitioning between ideas occasionally feels a bit formulaic. To achieve an even higher score, the writer could employ more sophisticated and flexible referencing and substitution to make the flow of ideas feel entirely natural and unobtrusive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common vocabulary items such as 'contemporary world', 'individual attention', and 'personalised fitness plan'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'beleive' instead of believe, 'beginers' instead of beginners, 'somone' instead of someone, 'traning' instead of training, 'convinent' instead of convenient, 'loose a weight' instead of lose weight, 'tariner' instead of trainer, 'corrcet' instead of correct, 'Fruthermore' instead of furthermore, and 'acheive' instead of achieve. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect the characteristics of this band level. To improve, the writer needs to expand their control over spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure. There are several error-free sentences, such as 'When someone has a trainer waiting for them, they are more likely to follow a regular exercise routine.' However, a number of grammatical errors persist, such as 'choosing the personal trainer as compared to take the exercise classes' (incorrect infinitive/gerund usage and article use), 'create a plan to a person need fitness' (preposition and word order issues), and 'reducing the risk of injuries' following a faulty subject-verb agreement or parallel structure. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication.
