Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely acknowledged that seeking the assistance of professional fitness trainers is becoming more popular in many countries. This is because people who intends to be physically healthy are starting to realize the importance of hiring a fitness trainer, such as a more guided and appropriate exercises. Additionally, they can better understand the exercise activties that they are doing. I believe hiring fitness instructor can help people achieve their goals in becoming physically fit and healthy.

One of the most compelling reasons why I believe fitness instructor is better than playing sports in general or joining classes is because these professionals can offer more personalized approach to physical fitness. This is largely because they have extensive knowledge of the theory and practical side of the sports and training exercises as they possessed relevant qualifications, such as educationa and professional experience, which consequently enable their so-called students to be well-informed of the exercises suited for them. By hiring a trainer, people can have the assurance that what they are doing is right for them, thereby allowing them to achieve their fitness goals efficiently and effectively. For instance, these trainers can provide tactics, techniques, and guidance on how to do a particular exercise, thus enabling individuals to do the activity the right way without compromising his body's capability.

I strongly believe that having a professional trainer is better as opposed if people will do self-guided exercises or joining a class. This is due to the fact that in self-guided they do not have the complete picture of what should they be doing since the perspective is only limited to self-assessment, which can sometimes hinder suggestions. Meanwhile, when individuals join exercise class they might not learn as well as the teaching of exercises are in general not per person, thus risking time spent and amount in the participating in the class.

In conclusion, people are now hiring fitness trainers to achieve their goal of being physically healthy, and the main reason for this is that trainers offer a more comprehensibe and personalized approach to fitness. I believe that this a positive development as people can have significant learnings on their journey to becoming healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the reasons for hiring a fitness trainer and expressing a clear position that it is a positive development. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, while the reasons regarding personalized approaches and professional guidance are well-articulated in the second paragraph, the comparison with exercise classes and self-guided routines in the third paragraph is somewhat repetitive and less thoroughly supported. The introduction also briefly touches upon the main points, but the main body paragraphs could benefit from deeper elaboration of examples to fully satisfy higher band criteria. Nonetheless, the overall stance remains clear throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and fully meets the lower band requirements while showing partial characteristics of the next level. Information and ideas are logically organized with a clear progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas, such as the comparison of trainers versus classes. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or slightly repetitive, using standard connectors like 'Additionally,' 'Meanwhile,' and 'In conclusion.' Referencing is generally clear, though occasional transitional phrases feel formulaic rather than smoothly integrated, which keeps the essay from achieving a higher level of cohesive flexibility.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing sufficient range to discuss fitness trainers and personal health. The writer attempts less common vocabulary items, such as 'personalized approach,' 'extensive knowledge,' and 'comprehensibe' (intended as comprehensive), but these attempts occasionally feature minor inaccuracies in word choice, form, or spelling. For instance, 'educational and professional experience' and typographical slips like 'comprehensibe' reflect typical traits of this level. While communication is never impeded by these lexical limitations, a greater precision and natural control over less common collocations would be necessary to push into higher band territory.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to construct varied sentence structures such as 'One of the most compelling reasons why I believe...' and relative clauses like 'activities that they are doing.' However, there are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people who intends'), awkward phrasing ('as opposed if people will do'), and missing articles or prepositions. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the writer maintains a reasonable level of control over basic structures while occasionally stumbling when attempting more complex grammatical patterns.
