Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that hiring a trainer is beneficial, and you identify relevant reasons, including greater awareness of fitness, trainers’ expertise, and the availability of trainers in gyms. You also mention personalised exercise and diet guidance, with weight loss as an example. However, the reasons for the trend are only briefly explained, and the benefits receive more attention than the question’s causes. The opposing point that trainers are expensive is acknowledged but not developed or weighed against your positive view. To strengthen the response, explain how individual guidance or busy lifestyles make trainers preferable to sports and classes, then support your judgement with a fuller comparison of benefits and costs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs on reasons and benefits, a brief counterpoint, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the main stages. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with several points joined by repeated “Moreover” and “Furthermore.” The paragraph about benefits also shifts from personalised advice to gym equipment without explaining how equipment supports the argument. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and group related ideas so that each paragraph develops one central purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “personal fitness trainer,” “diet plans,” “targets,” and “weight loss,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There is some attempt to express distinctions, such as comparing trainers with sports and exercise classes. However, the range is limited and several phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “benefits of health and fitness,” “in compare to past,” and “personal needs for exercise.” The spelling error “haveing” and repeated use of “personal” also reduce control. Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording, such as “health benefits,” “compared with the past,” and “individual fitness needs.” This would make the argument clearer and less repetitive.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use mostly straightforward sentence patterns and attempt some longer sentences with reasons and examples, such as the sentence beginning “For example, someone hires a personal trainer…” Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For instance, “many people haveing their personal needs” has an incorrect verb form and an unclear structure, while “personal trainer makes diet plans” needs an article. In “the trainer knows about the people need,” the possessive form is missing, and “which exercises they need to do to” has an unnecessary final “to.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each clause for a clear subject, correct verb form, and complete construction.
