Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, a large number of people prefer to hire a personal fitness trainer, rather than participating in sports or exercises. I believe it is largely a positive development as it provides individual attention and help to achieve fitness goals effectively.

There are several reasons why personal training has become increasingly popular. First and foremost, personal trainers provide personalized plans for everyone to make it more convenient for people. Moreover, everyone has busy and hectic schedules which results in less time for other fitness activities. People prefer faster results with less time consuming activities. For instance, a person working a full-time job will prefer to book training session according to his schedule rather tan attending a fixed exercise class.

In my opinion it is a positive development overall. Qualified trainers can help their clients more by focusing individually on their posture while training and help to fix it. This reduces the risk of injuries .Moreover. having a personal fitness trainer can increase motivation and consistency . The focused supervision can help people maintain discipline to achieve their fitness goals more easily. On the contrary, having personal trainers might be expensive than having group classes but the benefits overweigh the cost.

I conclusion, the increase of popularity of having a personal trainer has a lot of positive development as it helps people to achieve their fitness goals with more consistency and individual supervision. I consider this approach can help people to achieve their fitness levels more safely without any risk of injuries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing personal trainers, including tailored plans and flexible scheduling, and clearly state that you see this as a positive development. The example of a full-time worker helps make the scheduling point concrete, while injury prevention and motivation support your evaluation. This meets the task well, but some ideas are more fully explained than others. For example, “faster results with less time” is asserted without explaining how personal training achieves this, and the cost drawback is mentioned but not explored. To strengthen the response, develop these points with a brief explanation or example and make the comparison with group exercise more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph evaluating the development, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and signposts such as “First and foremost,” “Moreover,” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the argument. This is a coherent arrangement, though some linking is mechanical and a few transitions are unclear. In the evaluation paragraph, “On the contrary” introduces a cost disadvantage, but it does not directly contrast with the preceding point as naturally as “However” would. The conclusion also repeats the main benefits rather than drawing the discussion together. Use a wider range of natural links and clearer references between ideas to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “personalized plans,” “posture,” “risk of injuries,” “motivation,” and “consistency.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and some topic-specific language helps the response feel relevant. However, several phrases are imprecise or awkwardly collocated, such as “more convenient for people,” “less time consuming activities,” and “benefits overweigh the cost.” There are also spelling or word-form slips, including “tan” for “than” and “I conclusion.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to use more exact collocations and check spelling and word forms during proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a person working a full-time job will prefer…” and a conditional structure in “This reduces the risk of injuries.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are present. For example, “everyone has busy and hectic schedules which results” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “might be expensive than” needs a comparative form such as “more expensive than.” There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation issues around “injuries .Moreover.” and “consistency .” To improve, check agreement and comparative structures, and proofread punctuation so sentences are clearly separated.
