Student answer (Band 5.5)
In some countries, more and more people are hiring a personal fitness trainer, rather than playing an outdoor sports or doing regular excercises in gym. I see this as a positive development. The essay will highlight several reasons to support this new trend with a relevant example.
Health is wealth. Nowadays, people are realising this and taking maximum care of their diet and excercise routine. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear view that hiring a trainer is positive and give relevant reasons, including structured routines, motivation, exercise guidance and personalised food advice. The Virat Kohli example also supports your position. However, the task asks both why people are choosing trainers instead of sports or classes and whether this is positive or negative. Your response mainly lists benefits of trainers; it does not explain the comparison with other forms of exercise, such as convenience, individual attention or lack of access to classes. Several points are asserted rather than developed, and the conclusion mostly repeats the introduction. The response is 245 words, five words below the 250-word minimum; the 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the reasons and example further to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, a main body with reasons and an example, and a concluding sentence, so the reader can follow its general direction. However, progression is limited: the main paragraph moves from health awareness to discipline, workout techniques and diet without clearly grouping or linking these ideas. Connectors such as “However,” “Adding to it,” and “Hence” are used, but some feel mechanical or do not show a precise relationship between points. The example is placed in a separate paragraph, yet its link to the preceding reasons could be made clearer. To improve, organise the body around distinct reasons for hiring trainers, then explain how each supports your positive view, using clear referencing and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “personal fitness trainer,” “fitness journey,” “workout techniques,” “body mass index” and “overall posture.” These choices make the subject clear, and some less common expressions show an attempt to be precise. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “excercises,” “individaul,” “alongwith” and “stats.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “streamline a strict healthcare schedule,” “a brief insights,” and “forced changed” do not express the intended meanings naturally. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, for example “follow a structured routine” and “make significant changes.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “a personal fitness trainer and while sharing his experience…” and conditional phrasing in “if followed gives more positive outcomes.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors occur in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction. For example, “This not only help us” should use a singular verb, while “a brief insights” mismatches the article and plural noun. The sentence beginning “For example, famous cricketer…” is awkwardly joined, and the final sentence has an unclear construction. Use shorter, complete sentences when several ideas are being combined, and check subject–verb agreement and article use. More accurate control of these structures would make your ideas easier to follow.
