Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many people prefer to hire a personal fitness trainer instead fo joining sports teams or exercise classes. There are several reasons for this trend, and I believe it is a positive development.
On one hand, there are strong reasons why people prefer a personal trainer.Firstly, they get personal attention. In a group class, the teacher has to look after 20-30 people, so he cannot focus on one person. A personal trainer makes a special plan for one person according to his body type and goals.
Secondly, it is more flexble and convenient. People with busy jobs can fix the time with their trainer anytime, even early in the morning ro late at night. They do not need to follow the fixed timing of a sports club.
On the other hand, playing sports or joining exercise classes also has benefits. Group activities are more social and enjoyable. People can make new friends and enjoy team spirit, which is not possible with a personal trainer. Also, group classes are much cheaper. Hiring a personal trainer expensive and not everyone can afford it.
In my opinion, hiring a personal trainer is a positive development. Although it is costly, it gives better and faster reults. A trainer teaches the correct way to do exercise, so there is less chance of injury. He also guides about diet and lifestyle, which helps for long-term fitness.
In conclusion, people choose personal trainers because of personal care and flexible timing. While group sports are cheaper and more social, I believe personal training is more effective for achieving fitness goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the question: it gives reasons for choosing a trainer—individual attention and flexible scheduling—and clearly states that this is a positive development. The position is maintained in the introduction, opinion paragraph and conclusion. The comparison with group activities, including their social benefits and lower cost, is relevant and helps show awareness of the alternative. To make the discussion more fully developed, explain the reasons and evaluation in greater depth. For example, the claim that personal training produces “better and faster results” would be stronger with a specific explanation or example, and the benefits of group exercise could be connected more directly to why people nevertheless choose individual training. Some ideas are therefore more fully supported than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a comparison with group exercise, a paragraph giving your view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. This coherent structure is a strength. However, the linking is somewhat mechanical, with several paragraphs organised mainly through formulaic transitions rather than connections between ideas. The opening “On one hand” is not balanced by a corresponding “On the other hand” until the next paragraph, which can make the relationship between the sections less precise. Improve cohesion by linking explanations more naturally and using clear referencing—for instance, explicitly connecting the trainer’s tailored plan to the claim about achieving fitness goals.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing fitness and the reasons behind the trend. Phrases such as “personal attention,” “body type and goals,” “team spirit,” and “long-term fitness” communicate relevant ideas, and the reader can understand the argument throughout. However, the range is limited in places, with repeated general terms such as “people,” “personal trainer,” and “good” or “better” ideas, and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate. Examples include “guides about diet,” “better and faster reults,” and “flexble.” These slips do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Build a wider set of natural collocations for exercise, coaching and outcomes, and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional explanation (“so he cannot focus on one person”) and a concession (“Although it is costly…”). Most sentences convey their meaning clearly, and errors rarely obstruct communication. Some grammatical and punctuation problems remain, however. In “Hiring a personal trainer expensive,” the verb “is” is missing; “he also guides about diet” needs a grammatical construction such as “guides clients on diet”; and “which helps for long-term fitness” has an awkward preposition pattern. There are also spacing and punctuation issues where sentences run together, such as “trainer.Firstly” and “night.They.” Aim to check sentence boundaries and verb completeness, while continuing to practise varied complex structures.
