Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern era, people are more interested to hire a personal fitness trainer instead of playing in group sports and attending exercise classes. Some people consider it as a positive trend for healthy society, whereas others critize it for number of reasons. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss its reasons and give my own opinion on this statement.

On the one hand, the trend of having a healthy lifestyle and routine is becoming popular over the years. Due to this, the number of people who are paying for personal trainer is at peak. There are various reasons for the reason. First and foremost, It is more convenient to hire a trainer rather than travelling for hours to play in sport ground. Apart from that, It is believed that sometimes people are injured in grounds when they are playing without having much information about sports and techniques. Therefore, It can cause permanent demage to body parts.

On the other hand, there are some negative effects of not playing sports or doing exercise classes. Firstly, when a person joins the sports activities, there are more chances of him to become more social and interactive. By participating in group sports and exercises, they can learn the value of cooperation, leadership and teamspirit. Moreover, It will be more helpful for having a healthy and stress free lifestyle. As we know these days more and more people are getting depressed due to not having a good exposer to people are around so that It leads them to become isolated which is not a good thing.

In conclusion, hiring a personal fitness trainer for having a healthy lifestyle is good for many reasons. This helps them to do execise and daily activities very carefully. But at the same time the importance of playing in group sports can not be underestimated for various reasons.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for hiring a trainer, including convenience and avoiding injuries, and discuss the social benefits of group activities. Your conclusion indicates that personal training is beneficial while group sports remain important. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction presents opposing views, and the conclusion does not directly state whether the overall development is positive or negative. Some ideas also need fuller explanation. For example, explain how a trainer’s individual guidance makes exercise more convenient or safer, and develop the link between reduced group participation and isolation. A more explicit judgement, supported consistently throughout, would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons for personal training to the social advantages of group exercise is easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “On the one hand,” “Firstly,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, these links feel mechanical, and some connections between ideas are unclear. For instance, “There are various reasons for the reason” repeats rather than advances the point, while the sentence about depression and exposure to people is difficult to follow. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the paragraph’s main idea to improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “convenient,” “permanent,” “cooperation,” “leadership,” and “isolated,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “the importance … can not be underestimated.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “interested to hire,” “paying for personal trainer,” and “good exposer to people.” Spelling errors such as “critize,” “demage,” and “execise” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; more accurate phrasing would make your ideas clearer and give you greater flexibility in discussing fitness and social benefits.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “whereas others…” and “when a person joins the sports activities…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur across the response. For example, “people are more interested to hire” uses an incorrect pattern after “interested,” and “the number of people who are paying for personal trainer is at peak” has problems with articles and phrasing. The final sentence beginning “As we know these days…” also lacks clear sentence boundaries and grammatical connections. Practise accurate article use, verb patterns, and punctuation, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is complete and clearly linked.
