Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is only 118 words long. This significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you have addressed the three bullet points—mentioning the cyber security course, explaining the need to cancel due to work requirements, and expressing interest in a cabling course—the letter ends abruptly mid-sentence. Because the response is incomplete and under-length, it cannot fully develop the required information, resulting in a lower score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical sequence, starting with the purpose of the letter and moving into the explanation. However, the abrupt ending prevents a proper conclusion or sign-off, which disrupts the overall flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Initially', 'Unfortunately', and 'Therefore', but the limited length makes the overall structure feel underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts and use a standard closing, such as 'Yours faithfully,' followed by your name.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with terms like 'field technician', 'enhance my skills', and 'certification of qualification' being appropriate for the context. However, there are some spelling errors, such as 'cancelation' (cancellation) and 'collage' (college). The range is somewhat limited due to the short length of the response. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common words related to the topic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are several grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. For example, 'my plan have been changed' should be 'my plans have changed', and 'opt in a cyber security course' should be 'opt for a cyber security course'. Additionally, 'get admission in' is better phrased as 'enroll in'. While you attempt some complex structures, the errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
