Write a letter to the college administrator. In your letter:

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you regarding the part time course I have recently joined at your college.

Last week, I visited SGS college on 27 July 2026, and I took admission in Diploma of physiotherapy (DPT).

This course is going to start in September. I want to request you that please cancel my admission for this education.

In addition, I am happy to inform that I have changed my mind so I want to enroll in Bachelors of Physiotherapy(BPT). I think this would be better option for my future career.

I discussed my new decision with my father. He was also appreciating me to know that I really wants to build my career in healthcare.

I would like to send admission cancelation form or stream change form. Please let me know which one works for me.

I look forward to receiving your message and a suitable solution for me.

Yours faithfully,

Rajvir

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: identifying the course, explaining the reason for cancellation, and inquiring about a different course. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding the change of mind is quite brief, and the mention of the father's opinion is slightly irrelevant to the formal context of a college administrative request. To improve, focus on providing more professional justifications for the change in enrollment, such as academic goals or curriculum alignment, rather than personal anecdotes. Overall, the task requirements are met, but the depth of the response could be enhanced.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the purpose of the letter to the specific request and finally to the inquiry. Paragraphing is present, though the paragraphs are quite short. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition' and 'I look forward to', which help the flow of information. However, the transition between the explanation of the change of mind and the request for forms is slightly abrupt. Using more varied linking words or phrases to connect the reasoning to the administrative action would improve the overall flow and make the progression of ideas feel more natural and professional.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'took admission in' (should be 'enrolled in') and 'appreciating me to know' (which is grammatically and semantically awkward). The use of 'education' to refer to the course is also imprecise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations related to academic administration, such as 'enrollment,' 'transfer,' or 'curriculum requirements.' While the current vocabulary is sufficient for communication, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I really wants' (subject-verb agreement) and 'I would like to send admission cancelation form' (missing articles). Additionally, 'I am happy to inform that' is missing an object (e.g., 'inform you that'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, the use of articles, and the correct structure of formal requests. Proofreading for these common slips would significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
