Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I have registered an Excel course, which is part time course in your reputable institute last week on 20th July 2026. But, unfortunately i have to cancelled the registration, because of change the province in this week for my PNP process.
It is required to do French language test in end of this month and because of this i have to migrate myself to Nova Scotia from Ontario. Without this test, i am not eligible to apply PR and i have to prepare myself in given time because its little tricky. Moreover, if i moved to the other province, my points requirement will reduce by 15 points and it is beneficial for me.
It is so nice full from your side, if the fees will be refunded in my account as i requested on time. Waiting for a positive response from your side.
Thanking You,
Yours Faithfully
Kiran

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: identifying the course, explaining the reason for cancellation, and inquiring about a different course. However, the third requirement—asking about booking a different course—is missing from your letter. You mentioned the cancellation and the reasons for it in detail, but you failed to include a request or inquiry regarding an alternative course. To improve, ensure you explicitly address every prompt in the instructions. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the structure could be more balanced to ensure all requirements are clearly met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your situation. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'because of this' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'It is so nice full from your side'. The use of paragraphing is sufficient, but the transition between the explanation of your migration and the request for a refund could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your situation, such as 'reputable institute', 'migrate', and 'eligible'. However, there are several instances of unnatural word choice and collocation errors, such as 'nice full from your side' instead of 'very kind of you' or 'I would appreciate it'. Additionally, 'registered an Excel course' should be 'registered for an Excel course'. While your meaning is generally clear, these inaccuracies in collocation and word formation suggest a need for more focus on natural English phrasing and formal register.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an attempt at complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'i have to cancelled' (should be 'cancel'), 'change the province' (should be 'changing provinces'), and 'if i moved... my points requirement will reduce' (conditional error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the capitalization of 'I'. While your meaning is understandable, the frequency of these errors—particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement—impacts the overall accuracy of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency will help improve your accuracy.
