Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the task: identifying the course, explaining the reason for cancellation, and requesting a new course. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening 'Dear Sir' is slightly less standard than 'Dear Sir or Madam' as requested in the prompt. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the explanation regarding the family function could be more concise to allow for a more professional tone. Overall, the task requirements are fulfilled effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. There is a clear progression of ideas from the cancellation to the explanation and finally the request for a new course. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Even though', and 'So' are used to link sentences, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The use of paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the overall structure makes the writer's intent easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'revoke a part-time course' (cancel is more natural) and 'existed' (likely meant 'excited'). Spelling errors like 'cousis', 'trevelling', and 'manegement' are present, which slightly detract from the professional quality of the letter. However, the range is sufficient to cover the topic, and the errors do not impede the reader's understanding of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('However, I wants to cancel') and prepositional/article usage ('in youtube', 'in our college'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some awkward phrasings like 'it been while I have not seem them'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the core message. More attention to verb tenses and basic sentence construction would improve the accuracy significantly.
