Writing Task 1
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing a letter about my part-time course at a college which I recently booked and now I want to cancel the booking. I would be pleased if you give me the permission to cancel it.
Recently, I was enroled in Computer based accounting as I am a software engineer. I enrolled in this course because I want to enhance my skills which will help me in my upcoming career as I am planning to apply in multinational company.
However, I am working in Angelina's dutch corner company which is a big company and they also offer a same course at low cost dewing working hours. Therefore, I want to withdraw my name from the course. Apart from this, if we passed the written exam in this course then there will be a chance of promotion for the workers.
Last but not the least, if there is any other course related to Computer subject or finance sector like Financial management please let me know because I am also keen interested in these subjects.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly identified the course, provided a logical reason for cancellation, and made an inquiry about alternative courses. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a college administrator. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanation is more concise and focused; for instance, the details about your current employer's internal promotion policy are slightly tangential to the primary purpose of the letter. However, the overall message is clear and the task requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the purpose of the letter to the explanation and finally the request for information. Paragraphing is used to separate these ideas, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However,' 'Therefore,' and 'Apart from this' to link your sentences. To improve, try to vary your transitions further and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. Some of the phrasing, such as 'Last but not the least,' is a bit formulaic; using more natural linking phrases would enhance the overall cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'multinational company,' 'withdraw,' and 'keenly interested.' There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'enroled in Computer based accounting' (should be 'enrolled in a Computer-based Accounting course') and 'keen interested' (should be 'keenly interested'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific professional terminology would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'offer a same course' (should be 'offer the same course'), 'dewing working hours' (should be 'during working hours'), and 'if we passed the written exam' (should be 'if I pass'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing articles and minor errors in verb tense consistency. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will help improve your accuracy.
