Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: identifying the course, explaining the reason for cancellation, and requesting a change. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding your brother's advice is a bit repetitive and could be more concisely phrased to allow for a more professional tone. While you have covered all parts of the task, the overall structure and flow of the information could be more polished to ensure the request is clear and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your request. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'In addition to this' and 'However,' but the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical. The paragraphing is sufficient, but the connection between the reason for cancellation and the request for a change could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly disjointed, which prevents the flow from being truly fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'residing,' 'pursue,' and 'fulfill all the requirements.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Architecture of design' (should be 'Architecture and Design') and 'It company' (should be 'IT company'). You also use 'all fee' instead of 'the full fee.' While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage to reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I looking forward that you could understand' (should be 'I look forward to you understanding') and 'I will be thankful for you' (should be 'I would be grateful to you'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I') and sentence construction. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent.
