Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

Your response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt. You clearly state which part-time cooking course you booked at the Kitchener Downtown Campus, explain your reasons for needing to cancel due to the lack of baking instruction, and ask about booking an alternative course called "The Food And The Bakers". All three bullet points are covered and supported with relevant details, demonstrating a clear and appropriate tone for a formal request letter. While the ideas are adequately extended and supported, your explanation of why you are switching could be slightly more polished to achieve a higher tier of development, positioning this performance solidly as covering all required parts effectively with a clear purpose throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your letter displays a clear logical organisation and progression from start to finish. You use appropriate paragraphing to separate your opening, the explanation of cancellation, your inquiry about the new course, and the closing. Cohesive devices such as "However", "Consequently", and "While searching" are used to connect your ideas, although there is a slight mechanical feel to some of the transitions, such as repeating "another options". Overall arrangement is coherent and easy to follow, satisfying the requirements for a well-structured formal correspondence where information flows logically from your initial booking to your future plans.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating your message about course enrollment and cancellation. You make some attempts at less common vocabulary items, such as "enrollment", "curriculum", and "availability". However, there are some noticeable word choice, collocation, and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, such as writing "take decision" instead of "make a decision", "looking forward for" instead of "looking forward to", and spelling "corse" and "availiability". These lexical inaccuracies do not impede communication, but they highlight the need for greater precision in word forms and prepositions associated with specific vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

Your writing features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating your ability to construct compound and subordinate clauses, such as "While searching for another options, one program caught my attention..." You show decent control over basic tenses, but there are some recurring errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include "when I got my curriculum after enrollment then I found, this course only focuses" where the comma placement and redundant conjunction "then" disrupt the grammatical flow. Other minor issues involve article usage and prepositional patterns. These errors rarely impede communication, allowing your meaning to remain clear throughout the letter.
