Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the booked course as a computer course and clearly state that you want to cancel it. You also ask, in effect, about taking a different course by saying you want to join “social designing,” so the main purpose is recognisable. However, the reason for cancelling is unclear: saying you can study it “at any time” and that it may not lead to an “excellent vocation” does not explain the circumstances behind your decision. The request about the alternative course is also not framed as a question about availability, enrolment, or next steps. Develop these points with a specific reason and a direct enquiry to the administrator.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: an opening, discussion of the computer course, a cancellation paragraph, and a paragraph about the alternative course. This gives the reader some overall organisation. However, progression is weakened by repeated or unclear links, such as “I also like this” and “So know I want,” and several ideas are crowded into long sentences without clear punctuation. The opening material about the course’s popularity delays the key request, while the final paragraph does not clearly connect the new course to a specific question for the administrator. Use separate paragraphs for the cancellation reason and the alternative-course enquiry, and use simple, accurate transitions to make the purpose easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the two courses and communicate the basic intention to cancel and change courses. You also attempt more formal expressions, including “I am writing this letter” and “Your obediently.” However, frequent spelling and word-choice problems make parts difficult to understand: “rapetations,” “couser,” “social designing,” and “take past” do not convey the intended meanings reliably. Some phrases are also unnatural or unsuitable for a formal college letter, such as “radiant health” and “excellent vocation.” Choose familiar, precise terms—such as “cancel my enrolment,” “graphic design course,” and “career prospects”—and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is limited and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “I takes part recently in one part time course” has problems with subject–verb agreement, tense, and sentence construction; “which is computer course” is an incomplete clause; and “Because I know that” is incorrectly separated from the sentence it introduces. Articles and plurals are also often missing or inconsistent, as in “you college” and “many peoples.” Punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, particularly where full stops divide connected ideas. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then combine ideas with conjunctions while checking verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries.
