Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover all three requested points: you identify the digital marketing course, explain that you want to prioritise your degree studies, and ask about taking a different course later. The reason for cancelling is relevant, and your interest in a future marketing qualification gives the administrator useful context. However, the request to book a different course is not very specific: “later this year” and “masters in marketing” do not make clear whether you are asking about a college course, its availability, or the booking process. The refund request is also additional information rather than a clear explanation of the cancellation. To strengthen the letter, state directly what information or action you want from the administrator about alternative courses and develop that request more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a recognisable progression from the course you booked, to your reason for cancelling, and then to a possible future course. Paragraphing helps separate these points, and expressions such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” signal transitions. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. However, some linking is mechanical or does not show the relationship between ideas clearly: “To begin with” and “Secondly” introduce reasons for choosing the course, although those reasons are not central to the requested message. The final paragraph also combines cancellation and a request for confirmation without clearly distinguishing them. Use fewer formulaic transitions and organise each paragraph around one clear purpose, with a direct closing request.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the letter, including relevant terms such as “part-time course,” “career opportunities,” “prioritize my studies,” and “passionate about sales and marketing.” These choices make your main message understandable. You also attempt more formal expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the needful ins done,” “Reason being said,” and “inclined towards booking.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “priortize,” “quiting,” and “iam,” also reduce precision. Aim for natural, conventional wording in formal correspondence and check spelling carefully. For example, a direct phrase such as “Please let me know what alternative courses are available” would communicate your request more clearly than the less idiomatic expressions used here.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally follow the main points. However, control of sentence structure and punctuation is inconsistent, with errors that sometimes make the message difficult to interpret. For example, “I am writing this letter to inform you about the part-time course which i enrolled recently, won't be continuing further” lacks a clear grammatical connection between the clauses. “I want priortize my studies first” also needs a grammatical structure such as “I want to prioritise my studies.” Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in the lower-case “furthermore” after a paragraph break. Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and proofread punctuation and capital letters before sending.
