Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three requested points: you identify the part-time Music course, explain that your parents question its career value, and ask to take Java classes instead. The reason for changing is relevant, and the statement that Java relates to your subject and may help with future employment gives some support. This meets the task well overall. However, the explanation of why you first chose Music is not needed as much as a clearer account of the cancellation, and the request is not fully specific: “provide me Java classes” does not clearly ask whether you can transfer your booking or how to enrol. To strengthen the letter further, state the exact action you want the administrator to take and develop the reason for the change more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: an opening request, separate paragraphs for your original choice and reason for cancelling, and a closing request. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” help show how the points relate. The overall progression is understandable, but these connectors make the organisation feel somewhat mechanical, and the relationship between some ideas is unclear. For example, “the main reason for the cancellation” is followed by a sentence that does not clearly connect the course being enjoyable with your parents’ concerns. The opening also combines the cancellation and Java request abruptly. Use clearer paragraph focus and linking that explains cause and result, so the reader can follow the change of plan without having to infer connections.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main message, including “part time,” “cancellation,” “career perspective,” and “graduation.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “very found of music” appears to mean “fond of music,” while “call of music program” does not express the intended idea naturally. “Provide me Java classes” is also an awkward way to ask about changing courses. Aim for precise, conventional phrases suited to a formal letter, such as “cancel my enrolment,” “transfer to the Java course,” and “career prospects.” Check spelling and word forms as well as vocabulary choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence explaining how Java may help your career. However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms sometimes make the message difficult to follow. For example, “I am writing this letter to inform you that recently have been enrolled” is missing a clear subject after “recently,” and “The main reason for the cancellation … enjoyable” lacks a complete grammatical structure. The construction “The Java classes it will help” also uses an unnecessary extra subject. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense, articles, and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
