You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this email to cancel my course booking at your college.

Few weeks ago, I enrolled in Construction Project Management course. It is one year course with three months of co-op. Starting date for this program is 10th November, 2026 and it is in person course. I have paid half of my tution fees via college website.

However, I would like to cancel this course because I got a full time job. It will be difficult for me to attend physical classes as I will be working during my lecture timing. Besides that, this course has more practical classes which will be worthless if I do not attend in person.

It would be great if you could assist me with other options that I can choose. I prefer those courses which has less in person classes and lectures during the evening time period.

Pelase help me to find new program and also guide me how can I transfer my tution fees to other program.

Waiting for your responce.

Thanks and regards,

Sam.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter clearly covers all three required points. You identify the course as Construction Project Management, explain that a new full-time job conflicts with the in-person lecture schedule, and ask about evening courses with fewer in-person classes. The request to transfer the tuition fees also gives the administrator a practical next step. Your explanation is relevant and clear, though the reason for cancelling could be developed slightly further—for example, by stating whether you want the cancellation to take effect immediately or asking about any refund or cancellation procedure. Overall, the purpose and your preferences are communicated effectively, with only some room to make the requested action more specific.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: it introduces the cancellation, gives details about the booked course, explains the reason, and then asks about alternatives and fees. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and linking expressions such as “However” and “Besides that” help connect the explanation. The final requests are also easy to identify. Some transitions are a little mechanical, and the closing lines could be integrated more smoothly with the request for a new program. For example, you could group your preferred course schedule and the fee-transfer question in one concise paragraph, then finish with a conventional closing. The organisation is clear throughout, with some scope for more natural cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the purpose, including “enrolled,” “practical classes,” “in person,” and “transfer my tuition fees.” These choices make the situation and your requests understandable. Some wording is imprecise or unnatural, however: “worthless” is too strong for classes you cannot attend, while “other options that I can choose” and “during the evening time period” are wordy. There are also spelling errors in “tution,” “Pelase,” and “responce,” which are noticeable but do not prevent understanding. Aim for more precise collocations and proofread carefully; this would make the letter sound more professional and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including the reason clause “because I got a full time job” and the conditional “if I do not attend in person.” Most ideas remain clear, but some grammatical errors occur. Articles and noun forms need attention in phrases such as “Construction Project Management course,” “one year course,” and “in person course”; for example, use “a one-year course” and “an in-person course.” There is also subject–verb disagreement in “courses which has,” and the question form “guide me how can I transfer” needs restructuring as “guide me on how I can transfer.” More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the letter.
