Student answer (Band 6.5)
Clothes comes under basic necessity of individuals . Some people believe that it is good to purchase few expensive clothes, instead of buying more cheaper clothes. I totally agree with the statement and this essay will discuss the same in the upcoming paragraphs.
Firstly, buying fewer clothes gives the opportunity to decide what to wear more easily. To exemplify this a person having number of cheap clothes would take more time to decide on what to wear instead of a person who have less options due to few expensive clothes. Secondly, material used in the expensive clothes is of excellent quality, which will automatically increases the lifespan of the clothes. For example local made clothes easily tear off while branded clothes are much more stronger to tear.
Furthermore, cheaper clothes are easily available in bulk with same fashion style. Every third person wears the same fashion clothes. Such as, you will find number of persons wearing shirt of same design and colour, and this is because to decrease the cost the quantity increases of same design. Moreover, people feel more confident wearing expensive clothes. Confident comes from the feeling of wearing a premium cloth and relaxing with the fact that it will not being copied. For example, brand like LV were famous for their unique and expense design clothes.
In conclusion, I am totally agree with the statement of buying fewer clothes, rather than lots of cheaper clothes. People believe that cheaper clothes will save their money, instead they will spend more money as the life span is less of cheaper clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding convenience, quality, and psychological benefits are relevant and logically extended. However, some points, such as the claim that 'every third person wears the same fashion clothes', are slightly over-generalized and could be supported with more nuanced reasoning. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reinforces the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that examples are more specific and avoid generalizations that might weaken the logical flow of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the use of some cohesive devices is slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of fashion trends and the psychological benefit of confidence is somewhat abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'lifespan', 'premium', and 'bulk'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'local made clothes' instead of 'locally-made' and 'expense design' instead of 'expensive designs'. Additionally, some phrasing is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'clothes'. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider range of synonyms and ensuring collocations are natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Clothes comes', 'Confident comes') and article usage ('a person having number of cheap clothes'). There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'more cheaper' (should be 'cheaper') and 'it will not being copied' (should be 'it will not be copied'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic grammatical rules.
