Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people believed that purchasing couple of high priced apparel is better than having so many inexpensive wears. I would completely stand after this thought process that high priced clothes are better in quality and long life span. To prove my inclination, I will give relevant information and examples in further paragraphs.

To embark on, branded clothes are signature and identity for most people which has to be upto the mark. To explain this, when youths buy apparel they prefer top brands which itself is expensive just because of the high quality. Even after wearing it for couple of years the shine on it sustains same as it was bought new. For instance, Calvin Klein and Levis is top brands with almost billions of people support just because of the material sustainability. Moreover, ordinary brands are using cheap materials to sell in less price. Some people think the affordability is for cheaper clothes and they buy alot of them but it losses shine in few months compared to branded ones.

Furthermore, comfortable wearing with less efforts and buying new clothes every six months is a headache for many individuals. To explain this, it is vital that many of them are preferable to wear comfy wearables and they find it hard to every time going to store and buy an ordinary brands from their busy schedule. However, if this all requirements fulfilled by this branded and value for money clothes then it is best thought process. For example, simple looking but still looks cognitive on celebrities while they wear branded apparels is noticed by media and on social media platform repeatedly.

However, having a mindset of wearing inexpensive attire has variety and different types of wears. It has been noticed that people who afford ordinary brands wear different types of attire and still others find that they carry themselves as rich people even if the clothes are cheaper and even more in quantity.

To conclude this discussion, living and wearing luxury attire is required to buy very few just because it satisfies the needs in terms of quality and life span for most of the people instead of having more number of wears which are inexpensive. Nevertheless, different variants can be seen if the clothes are cheaper compared to branded ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding quality, durability, and convenience are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of specific brands and the observation of celebrity fashion. However, some points are slightly under-developed, and the counter-argument in the fourth paragraph is a bit vague, lacking a strong connection to the main thesis. While the position is consistent, the development of ideas could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. Overall, the task requirements are met with a clear, albeit somewhat simplistic, line of argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To embark on', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'if this all requirements fulfilled by this branded and value for money clothes'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments from the counter-argument and conclusion. The flow is sufficient to guide the reader, though it lacks the sophisticated, seamless transitions found in higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use less common items like 'sustainability', 'cognitive', and 'apparels', though some word choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as 'cognitive' to describe clothing or 'wears' used as a noun. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'stand after this thought process' instead of 'stand by this argument'. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the lack of precision and occasional misuse of vocabulary prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Some people believed', 'brands is top brands'), article usage, and pluralization ('couple of high priced apparel', 'alot of them'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and punctuation is generally functional but occasionally lacks precision. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common errors in agreement and word form.
