Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments for both sides are relevant, though the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'durability' is a strong argument, but it could have been expanded with a concrete example of how a high-quality garment saves money in the long run. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely listing the points mentioned earlier rather than synthesizing them. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a deeper explanation or a specific real-world example to support the claims made.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the flip side', and 'Consequently' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'due to this person can change' which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal structure of the sentences could be improved to ensure smoother transitions between the points within paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors ('febric', 'inhance', 'experiance', 'becuase', 'craftmanships', 'grater', 'varety') and some awkward collocations ('admire to their role models'). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'premium clothing' and 'nominal price', the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional word-choice inaccuracies prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading and learning the correct spelling of common academic terms would significantly improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the latest trend'), pluralization ('this clothes'), and verb agreement ('brand offer'). Some sentences are also structurally incomplete or awkward, such as 'due to this person can change their collection'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
