Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, purchase some costly clothes is a good option, as compared to buy ample of low priced clothes. I strongly disagree with this statement because spending a lot of money on clothes is not worth it, disagreement points explain in following paragraphs.

On the one hand, I believe that buying cheaper clothes is better option rather than buying costly clothes because cheaper clothes are more budget friendly for people and individuals can buy in good quantity. Moreover, the other reason is if people buy cheap clothes than they can spend their money on other things, like on education or on other facilities because these basic needs also play very important role in natives life, so it is better buy cheaper clothes rather than expensive.

On the other hand, in today's modern era with the aid of technology cheaper clothes are appear as expensive branded clothes there is not to much difference between these clothes. Furthermore, individuals visit on different occasions, like on parties and functions, so they need different clothes on different occations than cheaper clothes are more affordable. However, trend change with in a day , If people buy expensive clothes than people cannot purchase trendy clothes after some time. For instance Gucci is very expensive brand, but some local companies do copy of Gucci brand and it looks totally same.

To conclude, purchase few costly clothes is better option from buying a lots of affordable clothes. Overall, I believe that cheaper clothes is a better option, because cheaper clothes are more affordable and people can wear different trendy clothes on different occasions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing in favor of cheaper clothing. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as budget-friendliness and the ability to follow trends, the arguments could be more deeply explored with more specific examples or nuanced reasoning. The conclusion contains a contradiction, as you state that purchasing costly clothes is a better option, which conflicts with your stated position in the introduction and body paragraphs. To improve, ensure your conclusion consistently reflects your main argument and expand on your supporting points to provide a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear overall progression. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward. For instance, the transition 'disagreement points explain in following paragraphs' is grammatically weak and disrupts the flow. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always explicit and smooth.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'budget friendly', 'branded clothes', and 'trendy'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of word choice errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'purchase some costly clothes' instead of 'purchasing expensive clothing' and 'natives life'. There is also some repetition of words like 'cheaper clothes' and 'expensive'. To improve, try to incorporate more synonyms and idiomatic expressions, and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your word choices sound more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'cheaper clothes is a better option'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'as compared to buy'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not generally impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that you use the correct gerund or infinitive forms after prepositions and comparative structures.
