Student answer (Band 6.5)
I believe people should buy branded costly clothes instead of shopping for abundant of inexpensive clothes.
I am more inclined towards buying expensive clothes instead of doing random shopping because when you buy branded clothes from a good brand it provides you with reliability, purchase satisfaction and durability. You can wear that dress for multiple times and keep wearing it for few years. The quality of the clothes doesn't deteriorate and it gives you the right return for the money you have spent. When we as a customer enters any shop we do think about value for money no matter what we are purchasing, we always want best for us. Buying branded costly clothes are connected to your mind as well; it gives satisfaction to your mind and you are assured that the goodwill that the brand has maintained it would never wanna dissatify their customers.
On the other hand buying multiple but inexpensive clothes can be a fair decision as well for people who think they can get variety buy spending less is a smart choice too. But on a honest note they end up spending same when the quality of the clothes starts to get bad and when you wash it, their color starts to get fade and then they end up buying more clothes within the short period of time and hence; spending more on the clothes. They can wear that dress maybe 3-4 times and then it unwearable. People have different choices though they can spend money as they would like to but its all about the smart choices. Someone said - " Your clothes do tell a lot about your personality, so better carry it well".

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. You address both sides of the argument, acknowledging the appeal of variety in cheaper clothes before refuting it with the argument of long-term value and durability. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly your point regarding the 'cost-per-wear' logic. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide more specific, concrete examples rather than general statements. For instance, mentioning a specific type of garment or a personal experience with a high-quality item versus a fast-fashion alternative would strengthen your argument and provide more depth to your reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into three paragraphs: an introduction/position statement, a supporting argument, and a counter-argument/conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the other hand' and 'hence', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and some transitions could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of brand satisfaction and the counter-argument about inexpensive clothes could be more effectively bridged. Additionally, ensure that your paragraphing is balanced; the second paragraph is significantly longer than the others, which affects the overall structural balance of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'deteriorate', 'reliability', and 'goodwill'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and collocation errors, such as 'abundant of inexpensive clothes' (should be 'an abundance of'), 'purchase satisfaction', and 'unwearable' (should be 'unwearable' or 'no longer wearable'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit your score. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and refining your use of adjectives and nouns to sound more natural and precise in an academic or formal context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('When we as a customer enters' should be 'enter'), article usage ('the quality of the clothes' is fine, but 'their color starts to get fade' should be 'faded'), and punctuation errors, such as the misuse of the semicolon before 'hence'. While your meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly.
