Student answer (Band 7.0)
People nowadays believe rather buying variety of clothes that are cheaper in price it's better to purchase few clothes which are expensive and are better in quality. However, it completely depends upon an individual's choice about clothing but according to my opinion I agree upon purchasing less but expensive clothes which will further be explained in this essay.
Firstly, owning expensive clothes not only makes you feel wealthy but also increase our self confidence in our surroundings. Wearing branded clothes makes you feel privileged as people not only see your brand of cloth but also notices your rich taste in clothing. For example, I used to buy cheap shirts from Zudio brand and go to work place but I never came in attention of any of my colleagues. However, after sometime I started shopping shirts from brands like Zara and Male order, people started appreciating my outfit and I felt more confident in talking with them.
Secondly, expensive clothes often tends to last longer as compared to cheap ones. The material used in luxury clothes has higher quality and durability as they are carefully designed by the manufacturer. They also feel gental to our skin and does not have any harmful chemicals in them. For instance, companies like Jack and Jones uses 100% pure cotton and use non toxic colours for there clothes. Whereas, local shopkeeper uses color dies or chemicals which are toxic for our skin causing rashes and irritation to our skin. Moreover, after few washes the color fades away and material gets dull and easily tearable.
At last, having a limited wardrobe with more valuable and comfortable clothes is much better than having tons of cheap clothes that has less shelf life and can also harm our skin in long time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on social perception and product durability. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the argument regarding 'wealth' and 'self-confidence' is a bit superficial, and the claim that local shops use 'toxic' chemicals is a generalization that lacks nuance. To reach a higher band, the student should provide more balanced or sophisticated reasoning, perhaps acknowledging the economic perspective of buying cheaper clothes. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of argument remains at a functional level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For example, the sentence 'However, it completely depends upon an individual's choice about clothing but according to my opinion I agree...' is slightly clunky and repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, which helps the overall readability of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'shelf life' and 'durable'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'color dies' (should be 'dyes') and 'tearable' (which is not standard usage). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of more sophisticated, precise vocabulary prevents a higher score. The student should focus on using more accurate terminology related to consumer habits and material quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'expensive clothes often tends to', 'companies... uses', 'local shopkeeper uses') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that hinder the flow. The student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from being considered consistently accurate. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the score.
