Student answer (Band 7.0)
In this contemporary era, people have had shopaholic characteristics. Some people believe it is better to have few luxury clothes than to have lots of clothes. I completely agree with the notion that it is a sanguine approach as branded clothes can be usually worn lifelong, yet it is eccentric to know that some citizens buy economic attires. The inclination of the aforementioned statement along with the examples is discussed in forthcoming paragraphs.
On one hand, branded clothes or luxury clothes are more durable than cheaper ones. To explain, expensive clothes are made of durable textiles which increase the life span of the product, owing to a reduction in repeat purchasing of clothes. It not only saves the cost of repurchasing but also saves time and effort. For example, the clothes bought from branded stores such as Gucci, Armaani, Zara, and Old Navy are more expensive and long lasting due to the high-quality material used for making the product.
On the other hand, the clothes bought from small shops are cheaper, which helps the users to buy more goods in the same amount of money. To illustrate, the cost of buying one product from luxury stores includes the value of buying several different items from the small shops. Similarly, people can buy clothes for entire family than one expensive product for each family member. For example, it also gives them the opportunity to wear different fashions of clothing while buying them at economic prices.
In conclusion, although there are numerous benefits of spending on expensive clothes such as durability, the benefit of cheap shopping gives more opportunities to wear different fashionable clothes while saving costs. While branded outfits hold merits, yet it ignores the importance of economic buying which cannot be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments for both sides of the debate, which is a good approach for a balanced discussion. However, the development of ideas could be more nuanced. For instance, while you mention durability, you could further explore the environmental impact or the psychological aspect of 'fast fashion' versus 'quality investment' to reach a higher band. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as you state you agree with the notion in the introduction but then give equal weight to the opposing view in the final paragraph without clearly reaffirming your stance. Ensure your position remains consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases. The referencing is generally clear, though the final sentence of the conclusion is somewhat confusingly phrased ('While branded outfits hold merits, yet it ignores...'), which slightly disrupts the logical progression of your final summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some sophisticated words like 'sanguine', 'eccentric', and 'contemporary'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'shopaholic characteristics' is not the most natural way to describe consumer behavior, and 'economic attires' is an incorrect collocation; 'affordable clothing' would be more appropriate. Additionally, 'Armaani' is misspelled. To improve, focus on using vocabulary that fits the context naturally rather than using complex words that may not be entirely accurate in their usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'people have had shopaholic characteristics' is awkward; 'people have developed a penchant for shopping' would be better. You also have issues with article usage and pluralization, such as 'buy clothes for entire family' (should be 'the entire family'). There are also minor errors in sentence construction, such as the redundant use of 'While... yet' in the conclusion. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help improve this score.
