Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this modern era , Fashion is now omnipresent .People can choose buying some expensive attires beside investing on cheaper ones. I completely agree with this statement . This is happening because of the durable quality of high priced clothes. This essay intends to discuss the reasons behind this trend.
To commence with, the primary reason : Longevity, products which are more durable, mostly liked by people .This is because of the good quality of raw material like fiber, jute, cotton ,silk is used in the manufacturing of clothes which increase the life span of products . Hence, people can wear it multiple times as they want without hesitation of any tear off .
Secondly, Branding ,high cost clothes belongs to well-known brands such as Nike, Lululemon, Coach, Gucci and so on . Costly attires helps to increase level of standard when people wear it in business meetings , these clothes helps in flourishing the personality of common person .For instance, Person working in multi national company as on manager post and giving presentation in front of number of people may feel more confident when wearing proper suit from expensive brand .An expensive and professional outfit can enhance his appearance and create a sense of confidence while speaking . On the other hand , wearing ordinary clothes may reduce his confidence because he may less presentable in front of others .
In conclusion, I believe that investment on expensive clothes is far better than spending lavishly on the cheaper clothes which just remain with us for short time because of less durability.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding longevity and professional branding are relevant and supported by examples, such as the manager in a multinational company. However, the development is somewhat limited; the points could be expanded further to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on 'branding' could explore the psychological aspect of consumerism or the environmental impact of 'fast fashion' versus 'slow fashion' to add depth. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5, which rounds to 6.0 based on the provided scale.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'the primary reason : Longevity'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific language like 'omnipresent', 'durable', and 'flourishing the personality'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'choose buying' (should be 'choose to buy'), 'tear off' (should be 'tearing'), and 'manager post' (should be 'managerial position'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. Expanding the range of collocations and refining word forms would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing or misused), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., unnecessary spaces before commas). For example, 'products which are more durable, mostly liked by people' is a fragmented structure. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and punctuation placement.
