Student answer (Band 6.5)

The question often raised debate about buying a few branded garments or to spend money on purchasing of affordable outfits in bulk. Although, many choices of cheap clothes give variety of look in day to day lifestyle I stand with the favour of buy some of expensive clothes due to its woth it in long run.

The primary reason behind selcting expensive clothes that is, it sustain long time period as compared to clothes bought from local stroes. As expensive garements made from the premium fabric and passed through stong chemical process which aid to prevent from wear out and chances of damage in long run. For instance, survey from University of Toronto's textile department showed that ,garments sell by luxury brands are withstand with the same charm and finish after 50 washes by using machine if its compared with local brand outfits.

Furthermore, if consumers buy more and more unbranded clothes to store them they needed more space in wardrobe, instedad of that less lavish clothes barely consume space and it also gives asethetic look is additional.Last but not the least cheap garments taer and wear out early due to low quality fabric used to manufacure it will make customer pocket heavy in future. Due to those reasons expensive garments are worth it in terms of money and investment.

In conclusion, I believe customer should always go for the quality rather than quantity which is fruitful. Because of more positive output of buying branded clothes definetly some one should invest thier hard earned money wisely for selecting outfirts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying expensive clothes. The ideas are relevant, focusing on durability and long-term cost-effectiveness. However, the development is somewhat limited; while the argument about durability is clear, the supporting points could be more nuanced. The example provided regarding the University of Toronto is a good attempt at supporting the argument, though it lacks specific detail. The conclusion reinforces the position well. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of argument is consistent with a band 6.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Last but not the least', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition in the final paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are slightly disjointed, which affects the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'aesthetic', 'premium', and 'manufacure' (spelled incorrectly). However, there are several spelling errors ('woth', 'selcting', 'stroes', 'garements', 'taer', 'outfirts') and some awkward collocations ('passed through stong chemical process', 'make customer pocket heavy'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('garments sell by luxury brands are withstand'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('I stand with the favour of buy'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication, as the intended meaning remains clear throughout the essay. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
