Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying fewer, more expensive clothes. The ideas are relevant, focusing on professional image and product durability. However, the development is somewhat hindered by the use of invented statistics (e.g., '97 percent of the employed lost their most prominent deals'), which weakens the argument's credibility. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting examples feel slightly contrived rather than based on genuine logical reasoning or real-world experience. To reach a higher band, focus on providing more realistic, well-reasoned arguments rather than relying on fabricated data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Not only would this reason be sufficient to prove my point of view, but also...'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt. While the overall structure is coherent, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this statement') is always clear and precise.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'prominent', 'unreliable', and 'embarrassment'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'dameges vwey often' (spelling/usage), 'less charged for that cloth', and 'hight quality materialled attires'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not impede overall communication. Expanding your range of collocations and focusing on accurate word forms would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'they used high quality materials'), article misuse, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the only loosing valuable opportinities'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors throughout. The frequency of these errors suggests that the writer has not yet achieved full control over complex structures. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that verb tenses remain consistent throughout the essay.
