Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is beneficial to buy just a few expensive clothes rather than buying lots of cheaper clothes. I strongly agree with buying a few expensive wears because it is durable and has a longer shelf-life than cheaper wears.
Firstly, it is better to purchase more expensive clothes because it has longer shelf-life than less expensive wears. Those wears are made with higher quality materials which prevents them from fading out so easily unlike other less expensive clothes which are made with lower quality materials. Cheaper wears are affordable and pocket friendly but does not make them durable but costly outfits are expensive and durable to wear. For instance, is better to get one outfits that can stand the test of time than buying several outfits that fades out after the first wash.
Another reason why I prefer purchasing a few costly dress because it helps to cut down on expenses. You don't buy clothes because you like them, you buy because you need cloth to wear and knowing that they are costly, you tends to save and buy the most important one needed at the moment. For example, some people purchase outfits because they are cheaper and still don't wear them while results to spending more and not being able to save. Before being able to many a durable outfits that is
In conclusion,I believe buying a few costly wears is better than buying numerous cheaper clothes because it is durable, last longer and saves unwanted spending .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. The second body paragraph is particularly underdeveloped and ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence, leaving the argument unfinished. While the main points regarding durability and financial management are relevant, they lack sufficient depth and illustrative examples to reach a higher band. To improve, ensure all arguments are fully expanded and that the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical, and the flow is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors and the incomplete sentence at the end of the second paragraph. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'those wears' and 'that' without clear antecedents. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring sentences are complete would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is significant repetition of words like 'wears', 'clothes', 'expensive', and 'cheaper'. The term 'wears' is used incorrectly as a noun to refer to clothing items, which is a persistent collocation error. While the meaning is clear, the range is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning synonyms for common words and mastering the correct usage of nouns related to fashion and consumerism.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies primarily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it has longer shelf-life', 'outfits that fades out', 'you tends to save'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and an incomplete sentence at the end of the second paragraph. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Increasing the use of complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic agreement and punctuation errors will help improve this score.
