Student answer (Band 6.0)

Instead of purchasing a huge numbers of cheaper clothes, it is better to purchase a few amount of good quality , branded and expensive clothes. I completely agree with this statement, because the superior quality of clothes are likely to more durable, and can be used for a long period of time. Even it does not affect the skin as compared to the clothes that are of low quality.

Branded clothes are made from the best material, and in the supervision of a highly skilled professional. The material used in this garments are mostly imported from the other countries if not available in that particular country. The clothing brands like Zara, CK, Jockey, Jack and Jones, and many others are know for the quality they provide. As this clothes are made with utmost care and under high supervision there are very less errors. Because this renowned companies cannot afford to make errors, by doing so will damage their reputation , and their control on the markets. So the material they used are top notch, and it requires a highly skilled people to make it, the cost of the clothes rises. For Instance, the leather jackets of Zara are made from real leather, as compared to the one which are locally sold are made of different material silk, and cotton. Thus, once you purchase a leather jacket from Zara, which is definitely expensive but, it will easily last for a year or two.

Clothes are not just a piece of garment but it also has a lot to do with your skin and with your body. For someone like me, who has a very sensitive skin. I choose my clothes accordingly, which suits my skin type and does not create any rashes. Cheap clothes are made of low quality, not supervised properly, and they are high chances that they are defected or creates size issue after some washes. Purchasing clothes is like investing upon yourself, specially when you are buying undergarments. For Example, Undergarments from jockey are expensive as compared to other garment companies. But it has the best quality among them. Another example, is about the well know Canadian organization "Canada Goose" it know for its winter wear all around the globe. Even they are expensive as compared to their competitor "Mountain Warehouse" still their sales and customer reach is higher because of the quality and durability they provide. Specially, their jackets are very gentle, warm and soft from inside.

In conclusion, I agree with opinion of purchasing a less amount of expensive clothes is much better than buying a lot of cheaper option available in the markets. As high cost clothes are often branded, durable , good for sensitive skins, available in all sizes and colours, made out of excellent material, and has a their own charm.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding durability, skin sensitivity, and brand reputation are relevant and well-supported with specific examples like Zara and Canada Goose. However, the development is occasionally repetitive, and some points, such as the comparison between leather and silk, are slightly illogical. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting example directly reinforces the main argument without drifting into unnecessary detail. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, ensuring the position remains consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'As' and 'Because' to start sentences. Referencing is generally clear, but some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific language like 'renowned companies' and 'durable'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'huge numbers of cheaper clothes' (instead of 'large quantities'), 'few amount of' (instead of 'a small number of'), and 'there are very less errors' (instead of 'there are far fewer errors'). While these errors do not impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of precision that prevents a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('the superior quality of clothes are likely to more durable'), article usage ('the material used in this garments'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are clunky, such as 'Even it does not affect the skin as compared to the clothes that are of low quality.' While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over more complex structures.
