Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, clothing is not just a necessity but also a way for people to show their sense of style and confidence. It is argued that it is better to buy to some costly clothes instead of a large number of low-priced. I completely agree to the statement. There are certain factors one should consider while buying clothes.
There are certain reasons for buying luxury clothes. A significant factor about investing in a few high-pricing garments is their durability. The fabric of these clothing is often manufactured by high quality material and attention is given to every detail. Therefore, the products retain their colour and shape for a long time. Although, it require a large initial investment, it is economically beneficial in the long run because there is no need to replace frequently. For instance. I bought a dress for my convocation from Maria B. and I wore it on different occasions. Neither the colour fainted nor the fabric damaged. Thus, it is economical choice to buy an expensive one.
Secondly, buying fewer clothes reduce unwanted textile waste and unnecessary consumption of natural resources. People are buying low cost clothing just to follow the fashion and trend and throw it after a few wears, consequently creating environmental problems. On contrast, people who buy high quality luxury dress often made sensible choice and prefer quality over quantity and contribute toward sustainable environment.
To, conclude, although designer dresses require huge initial cost, they are worth buying due to their high quality and durability which is not being offered by low priced clothing items. Buying fewer high priced clothes can contribute to sustainable society by reducing the depletion of resources and environmental problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding durability and environmental impact are relevant and well-supported with logical reasoning. The personal example provided adds depth to the argument. The ideas are extended sufficiently to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, the student could ensure that the conclusion does not merely repeat the introduction but synthesizes the main points more effectively. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Secondly', 'Therefore', and 'In contrast' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the sentence fragment 'For instance. I bought...' and the slightly awkward transition 'On contrast'. Despite these minor mechanical issues, the overall structure is coherent and the logical progression of the argument is maintained throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. There is an attempt to use topic-specific language such as 'sustainable environment', 'unwanted textile waste', and 'initial investment'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'high-pricing garments' (should be 'high-priced') and 'Neither the colour fainted nor the fabric damaged' (should be 'faded' and 'was damaged'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision in word usage to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it require' instead of 'it requires') and incorrect preposition usage ('agree to the statement' instead of 'agree with'). Punctuation is generally functional, though the sentence fragment 'For instance. I bought...' is a notable error. The majority of the sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb forms and sentence boundaries would improve the score.
