Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, its common for people to purchase few branded clothes instead of spending more money in less costly ones. I completely agree with the former statement, as the branded clothes have better quality and it shows the personality of the person.
Many people believe that buying a few expensive clothes is a better idea instead of wasting money on cheaper clothes. The reason behind this is, those clothes which have better brand name majortiy of them are high in quality. For instance, a person who just graduated and got a job in good company would like to purchase those clothes, which will be good in quality and quality depends upon the materials used. Better the quality, better the longevity of that material.
Additionally, personality plays a key role in people's lives. This is the major factor in everyone's life. The second reason why people enjoy wearing expensive clothes is that they want to show their personality in front of others. For instance, wealthy people always enjoy buying better quality of clothes or products and from well-known palces such as Zara, Mango. Buying from this well-known stores reflects their overall personality. Hence, wearing a branded clothes is not just quality but it add ons to the personality of a person.
To conclude, buying a few expensive clothes is better than the bulk of cheaper clothes as due to the quality of the material and it reflects the person behaviour which make it more confident. Since, cheaper clothes even don't have any warranty and surety.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying fewer, more expensive clothes. The ideas regarding quality, longevity, and personal image are relevant. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about 'personality' is mentioned twice without significant expansion. The examples provided, such as mentioning specific brands like 'Zara' and 'Mango', are relevant but could be better integrated to support the argument more persuasively. To reach a higher band, you should aim to explore the implications of your arguments more thoroughly rather than restating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'For instance', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. For example, the sentence 'The reason behind this is, those clothes which have better brand name majortiy of them are high in quality' is clunky and impacts the smooth progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences connect more naturally would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic descriptors like 'good' and 'better' repeatedly. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'add ons to the personality' and 'bulk of cheaper clothes', which sound unnatural. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'longevity' and 'branded', the overall range is limited. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to consumer habits and fashion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'branded clothes have better quality and it shows'), article usage (e.g., 'in good company'), and punctuation errors. The sentence 'Since, cheaper clothes even don't have any warranty and surety' is a sentence fragment and grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence structure would be highly beneficial.
