Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era, fashion becomes a part of everyone's life on this planet. Every single person want to wear expensive clothes to looks nice in public as they think this represent there wealth and social status in there localities. With this many people think that purchasing less number of expensive wears is good, rather than going for more cheaper stuff. Personally, I disagree this statement.
Firstly, this is about budget and spendings. There are only two percent of people in this world, who are rich and they can buy anything they want without any worries, but still nearly 75 percent people are earning just to fulfill there daily needs and rest 23 percent really struggle to earn enough for there regular requirements. Meanwhile, everyone need cloths to wear and they always wish to wear good attire, so some brands like Zara, H&M and Holister focus more on people that are lower middle class, they make good quality fabric with affordable range. Therefore, if people are getting better quality products without spending a lot, there is no point of going to expensive brands for such expensive cloths.
Other than that, if person want to maintain there social status with there cloths they can just go for factory outlets and also their is an option for copies in the market. Many big brands like Armani, Coach and LV also have there factory outlets where they sell there cheaper quality in sales of 70 percent.
In my opinion, people should not spend a lot of there expenses on cloths rather than that they can save that money for there better future by investing that money or they should enjoy by planning trips or other pleasures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention budget constraints and the availability of affordable brands, the argument lacks depth regarding the quality-versus-quantity debate. For instance, you touch upon 'factory outlets' and 'copies' as alternatives, but these points are not fully explored in relation to the prompt's core premise of long-term value or sustainability. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting arguments are more thoroughly explained and directly linked to the specific trade-off between expensive and cheap clothing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Meanwhile', and 'Other than that' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise (e.g., 'there' instead of 'their'). The paragraphing is appropriate, but the progression of ideas could be smoother. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to their intended antecedents to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'social status', 'factory outlets', and 'affordable range'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'there' used instead of 'their' throughout the text, and 'wears' used as a noun. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'fashion becomes', 'everyone need cloths') and the misuse of homophones ('there' vs 'their'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the recurring grammatical slips indicate a lack of control over more complex structures. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence construction is grammatically sound.
