Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's time, where people are working hard to get financially stable as well as wanted a status in the society that we are standing in upper middle class range. They have ample of ways to showcase their power of money. Therefore, there is one factor related to this which is being hyped nowadays, whether people should invest to buy some premium clothes or a lot of ordinary clothes is sufficient for an individual. Hence, I will discuss both the aspects and give my final statement on this in the below essay.

Initially, in this competitive world, everyone is chasing to achieve their dream lifestyle. And to have luxury clothing brand in their wardrobe is a dream for youngsters these days. For Instance, Puma is consider as a luxury brand for its sports wear collection and thus, people wants to buy some of their clothing items to show their superiority in front of the society. Additionally, sometimes having some expensive clothes with you gives you a confidence that you can achieve anything if you will work hard. Subsequently, this will help an individual to push their potential and dream big. Moreover, having high end brand products is also a symbol of prestige.

Although, some people have different mindset to invest their funds, so they spend less on branded clothes and buy cheaper clothes in bulk. For example, some individuals think that they have to focus on doing savings for their future after they get retire. Additionally, sometimes some people do not pay more attention on how they will look but, they will make sure that they will always be kind toward others.

To reiterate, after considering both the statements carefully I strongly, support to have few expensive clothing items with an individual. Therefore, after working hard people have their own ways to spend their money and in todays time buying premium clothes is a trend and a sensible choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that expensive clothes provide 'confidence' or 'prestige' is stated but not deeply explored or supported with convincing reasoning. The counter-argument regarding saving for retirement is also brief and lacks a strong connection to the clothing debate. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific, logical examples that directly support your main points, rather than relying on general assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'Additionally', and 'To reiterate' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Although, some people have different mindset'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used more naturally would help elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financially stable', 'status', and 'premium'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'wanted a status' (instead of 'want status'), 'power of money', and 'do not pay more attention on how they will look'. There are also some minor grammatical errors affecting word forms, such as 'consider' instead of 'considered'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people wants'), incorrect verb forms ('they get retire'), and awkward phrasing ('the society that we are standing in upper middle class range'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
